Vinyasa / Pilates for Yoga
Paris-based Chicago native Rajeev Kahn is a senior instructor of yoga with more than 20 years practice and 15 years teaching experience. His enthusiastic, precise and dynamic teaching has reached thousands of students in over 12 countries around the world. Exposed to meditation at age 11 and asana at 16, Rajeev was certified to teach Ashtanga in his 20s and Anusara in his 30s but now (in his 40s) teaches neither nor. Today the space his students and he co-create is one characterized by vitality, safety, and playfulness. By facilitating an atmosphere of mutual respect and admiration throughout his classes, Rajeev ensures that his students of all ages and abilities feel well taken care of. By sharing honest clear instruction and a genuine love for the practice, Rajeev aims to light a path towards true peace through Hatha Yoga.
Rajeev first taught in his native U.S.A. from 2001-2006 before relocating to Europe where he helped open London's first Anusara studio, The Yoga Co-Op, in 2006. He was then invited to join the faculty of Rasa Yoga Rive Gauche in 2007 and shortly thereafter was named a "pointure" (master teacher) in Lionel Pailles' book Paris Yoga (Parigramme Editions, 2009). After seven years in Paris he was invited to supervise over 200 teachers throughout Asia as Director of Learning and Development for Pure Yoga (Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Shanghai), taught at Evolution Asia Yoga Conference and led his fourth Ayurvedic yoga retreat at Ulpotha in the Sri Lankan jungle.
Rajeev met his primary teacher, Baba Hari Dass (a world-renowned traditional Ashtanga Yoga master and silent monk) in 2000. He has been a dedicated student of Hari Dass ever since that first life altering encounter. It is to Babaji that Rajeev credits his patience, humor, and optimism. Rajeev regularly returns to Mount Madonna Center, a community built by the students of Hari Dass, to continue his in-depth study of doing the dishes and other forms of advanced practice.
